Phosphate Research Network

There has been a growing interest of scientists in research related to phosphates and phosphorus compounds. This interest has been driven by many factors such food security and preservation of resources, development of new materials (biomaterials, batteries, catalysis, water treatment…), synthesis of new phosphorus compounds (medicines, surfactants…), fertilizer formulation and efficiency, etc.
Because of the importance of the research community and diversification of fields related to phosphate, we took the initiative to create the “Phosphates Research Network” (PhoResNet). The main objectives of PhoResNet are:
  1. To strengthen scientific exchanges between researchers
  2. To have the opportunity to network and update knowledge and understanding related to their research fields.
  3. To provide a forum for discussing, analyzing and responding to the emerging and “over the horizon” challenges that will be facing phosphate industry.
Mission

PhoResNet, Phosphate Research Network is an interdisciplinary collaborative initiative of national researchers delivering integrated expertise in phosphate research areas. This network is expected to increase the impact of the phosphate result in knowledge sharing and capacity building.
The overall aim of this proposed exchange Network is to bring together a national team of researchers, with a wide variety of skills in order to:
  • Build a responsible Research & Innovation, with the concerned stakeholders
  • Highlight current and proposed research in phosphate areas
  • Promote communication and exchange of information
  • Develop educational activity in the field of phosphates and support early research careers
  • Disseminate upcoming events in planning and research
Governance

The management structure of PhoResNet involves : (i) a monitoring and steering committee (MSC); (ii) a Scientific Management Committee (SMC) and (iii) a network secretariat  (NS).
1- The monitoring and steering committee (MSC) is the decision-making body of PhoResNet. It is composed of the national coordinator, the secretariat of the network, the founding members and members designated to represent all the research topics around phosphates.
2- Scientific Management Committee (SMC) is chaired by a member appointed by the Monitoring and Steering Committee and researchers selected from among the members of the network, referring to their contribution in terms of research in the field of phosphates as well as their scientific and technical notoriety.
3- The network secretariat (NS) is the executive body of the network. It consists of at least three members, including the national coordinator, from the Monitoring and Steering Committee.
